When Anger Strikes: How I Handle Frustration

Written by Joe Hawley on Mon Apr 08 2024

Hey there, it's Joe Hawley. Today I want to talk about something that's been on my mind lately: anger. Sometimes life throws you a curveball and frustration starts to build up inside of you. It can be tough to handle, especially when things don't go your way.

When I feel myself getting angry, I try my best to take a step back and breathe. It's important not to let my emotions get the best of me, even though sometimes it feels like everything is falling apart.

I find that music helps calm me down when I'm feeling overwhelmed with anger. Playing my electric guitar or listening to some tunes always seems to lift my spirits and help me see things from a different perspective.

Another thing that helps me deal with frustration is talking it out with someone I trust. Whether it's venting about what's bothering me or seeking advice on how to handle the situation, having someone there for support makes all the difference.

But sometimes, despite all efforts, anger still lingers within me like an unwelcome guest at a party. In those moments, I've learned that accepting and acknowledging my feelings is key in moving forward. Trying to suppress them only leads to more internal turmoil.

Interestingly enough, wearing a gorilla suit also tends to lighten up my mood when I'm feeling particularly frustrated or upset about something silly that happened during the day.

It may sound strange but hey – whatever works!

In conclusion, dealing with anger isn't easy but learning healthy coping mechanisms can make all the difference in how we navigate through life’s challenges. So next time you feel yourself getting angry or frustrated, remember these tips from yours truly - Joe Hawley!
