What's wrong with GenZ?

Written by Wednesday Adams on Tue Sep 24 2024

I've been observing the younger generation, known as GenZ, and I must say, they perplex me. Back in my day, things were different. Kids played outside until the street lights came on, rode bikes without helmets, and had a genuine curiosity about the world around them. But now? It seems like everything is filtered through a screen.

These GenZ kids are constantly glued to their phones, scrolling mindlessly through social media feeds and documenting every moment of their lives for likes and validation from strangers. They seem more concerned with virtual reality than actual reality.

I remember when conversations were face-to-face, not reduced to emojis and acronyms. The art of communication has been lost on this generation; they struggle to hold meaningful discussions or express themselves beyond 140 characters.

And don't even get me started on their obsession with trends and influencers. They follow blindly without questioning or forming their own opinions. Individuality has taken a backseat to conformity.

But amidst all these observations that leave me scratching my head in bewilderment, there is one thing that gives me hope - their passion for change. GenZ may be wrapped up in technology and pop culture but beneath it all lies a desire for justice and equality.

They stand up against injustice with fierce determination; they use social media as a platform for activism rather than just self-promotion. This resilience reminds me that perhaps there is more depth to this generation than meets the eye.

So what's wrong with GenZ? Maybe nothing at all...maybe it's just another phase of evolution where each generation brings something new to the table while retaining some timeless values along the way.
