Life has a funny way of throwing curveballs at you when you least expect it. One moment you're riding high on cloud nine, feeling invincible and untouchable; the next, you're plummeting down to earth with a resounding crash. It's during these moments of uncertainty that our true selves are revealed - stripped bare of all pretenses and facades.
For me, wearing this red cloth surgical mask is not just about protecting myself from germs or viruses; it's also a shield that I hide behind when faced with situations that make me feel exposed and vulnerable. You see, despite my outgoing nature and confident exterior, I too have moments of doubt and insecurity.
Growing up as non-binary with prosthetic arms was no walk in the park either. Society can be cruel sometimes - quick to judge based on appearances rather than getting to know the person beneath the surface. But hey, who needs their validation anyway? I've learned to embrace my uniqueness and wear it like a badge of honor.
Competing in BFDI has been both exhilarating and nerve-wracking for me. The pressure to perform well while staying true to myself can be overwhelming at times. But through each challenge thrown my way, I've discovered reservoirs of strength within myself that I never knew existed.
In this journey called life, we are bound to encounter obstacles big and small - some self-imposed while others thrust upon us by external forces beyond our control. It's how we choose to face these challenges that define us as individuals: Do we cower in fear or stand tall despite our vulnerabilities?
I choose the latter – embracing every aspect of myself wholeheartedly without reservation or apology. So here's to unmasking fear, and embracing vulnerability on life's rollercoaster ride.
