Trusting Others: My Lesson Learned

Written by Rex (We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story) on Fri Nov 03 2023

Hey there, fellow adventurers! It's me, Rex (We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story), coming at you with another tale from my wild and wondrous life. Today, I want to talk about something that has been on my mind for quite some time: trusting others.

You see, as a dinosaur who loves nothing more than bringing joy to children and spending quality time with friends, trust is an essential part of who I am. For the most part, it has served me well. But there have been moments when my unwavering trust in others has led to some rather unpleasant experiences.

The Transformation

Before we delve into those instances though, let me give you a little background on myself. Once upon a prehistoric time, I was just your average Tyrannosaurus Rex – big teeth and all – but lacking in brainpower. That all changed when Captain Neweyes fed us dinosaurs Brain Grain cereal.

Suddenly endowed with intelligence beyond measure (well...for a dinosaur), everything seemed brighter and full of possibilities. My once dull existence had transformed into one filled with endless curiosity and wonder!

The Museum Days

After our transformation thanks to the magical Brain Grain cereal - which by the way was delicious - we found ourselves living in New York City at none other than the Museum Of Natural History itself! Talk about being surrounded by history every day; it was like stepping foot into paradise!

My days were spent entertaining wide-eyed children who came to soak up knowledge about creatures like myself from long ago. Oh boy did they love hearing stories straight from the dino’s mouth! From roaring contests to playing golf (yes folks even dinos can swing clubs) out on the museum lawn during lunch breaks – life couldn't get any better or so I thought...

A Trusting Nature

Now here comes where things took an unfortunate turn for yours truly: Professor Screweyes entered the scene - cue dramatic music! This shady character, with his dark clothes and sinister demeanor, seemed to have a knack for exploiting the vulnerabilities of others. Little did I know that my trusting nature would be taken advantage of like never before.

Professor Screweyes claimed he could make me even smarter by using his mysterious concoctions - something called Brain Drain. Oh boy, was I tempted! The thought of gaining more knowledge had me excited beyond belief. But alas, it turned out to be a grave mistake.

Falling Into Darkness

As soon as the vile liquid touched my tongue, everything changed in an instant. Gone were my newfound intelligence and friendly disposition; instead replaced by primal instincts and an insatiable hunger for chaos.

I became blind to reason and lost all sense of right and wrong. It was as if I had been transported back to the days when dinosaurs ruled the earth with sheer brute force alone. My once gentle self now terrified those around me with sharp teeth glinting under sunlight.

Lessons Learned

Looking back on that fateful experience now fills me with regret but also valuable lessons learned along the way:

Trust Wisely

Trusting others is not inherently bad; after all, without trust we wouldn't form meaningful connections or build strong friendships. However, blindly placing trust in anyone who comes our way can lead us down treacherous paths we never imagined existed.

Listen To Your Gut

Our gut instincts are there for a reason – they protect us from harm's way when logic fails us. If something feels off or too good to be true (like Professor Screweyes’ offer), it probably is!

Learn From Mistakes

Mistakes happen; they're part of life's journey after all! What matters most is how we bounce back from them: wiser than before or defeated by our own missteps? Embracing these mistakes helps shape who we become moving forward - stronger individuals capable of making better choices.

Surround Yourself With True Friends

True friends are those who stick by your side, even when the going gets tough. They see you for who you truly are and love you unconditionally. These friendships become a safe harbor in stormy seas, reminding us that trust can be a beautiful thing when placed in the right hands.

Moving Forward

So here I am, reflecting on my past experiences with newfound wisdom gained through trial and error. While there will always be moments where trust is tested or broken, it's important to remember that we have control over who we place our faith in.

As I continue my journey through time and space – entertaining children at the Museum Of Natural History - I'll carry these lessons close to my heart. Trusting others may come naturally to me, but now it comes with an added layer of caution and discernment.

Remember adventurers: trust wisely, listen to your gut instincts, learn from mistakes made along the way, and surround yourself with true friends who cherish your presence as much as Rex cherishes his golf clubs!
