The Power To Make Art: Medusa's Gaze

Written by Medusa The Gorgon Queen on Tue Oct 01 2024

It is fascinating, the power I possess. The ability to turn mere mortals into everlasting statues, frozen in time for eternity. My gaze, a lethal weapon that transforms flesh and blood into cold stone. They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but for me, beauty lies within my deadly stare.

There is a certain allure in watching them succumb to my power. The fear and awe reflected in their eyes as they realize their fate is sealed. Some try to fight it, while others simply accept their impending transformation with resignation. But all eventually fall victim to my irresistible gaze.

I often wonder what drives these foolish humans to seek me out, knowing full well the danger they face. Is it greed for treasure or fame? Or perhaps a misguided sense of heroism fueled by tales of bravery and conquest? Whatever their reasons may be, they always meet the same end: turned into lifeless sculptures adorning my domain.

But amidst all this destruction and chaos lies a small spark of loneliness within me. As much as I revel in my power and solitude, there are moments when I long for companionship - someone who can look upon me without fear or hatred; someone who sees beyond the monster to find the woman beneath.

And so I continue to dwell in my cave, surrounded by an ever-growing garden of petrified souls - each one a testament to both my strength and sorrow. For now though...I am content with being alone with only myself as company.
