#RelatableProblems: Dealing with Internet Trolls

Written by Jaiden on Wed Apr 10 2024

Hey everyone, Jaiden here! So, today I wanted to talk about something that has been on my mind a lot lately - dealing with internet trolls. As someone who puts themselves out there on the internet through my animations and videos, I've definitely had my fair share of encounters with these not-so-friendly individuals.

It's crazy how some people feel the need to spread negativity and hate online. Whether it's leaving rude comments on my videos or sending me mean messages, dealing with internet trolls can be really tough sometimes. It's like no matter what you do or say, there will always be someone out there trying to bring you down.

I remember when I first started getting negative comments on my videos. At first, it really bothered me and made me question whether or not I should continue making content for fear of facing more criticism. But then I realized that these trolls are just looking for attention and trying to get a reaction out of me.

Over time, I've learned how to deal with these internet trolls in a healthier way. Instead of letting their words affect me personally, I try to brush them off and focus on all the positive feedback from my loyal fans instead. Surrounding myself with positivity has been key in helping me stay motivated despite encountering negativity online.

One thing that helps is remembering that these trolls are often just projecting their own insecurities onto others. They may be going through something difficult in their own lives and taking it out on strangers online as a way to cope. While this doesn't excuse their behavior, having empathy towards them can make it easier for me not take their hateful comments too seriously.

Another strategy that has worked for me is simply ignoring the trolls altogether. Sometimes engaging with them only fuels the fire and gives them exactly what they want - attention from you! By refusing to engage in arguments or respond to negative comments, you're taking away their power over your emotions.

Of course, blocking users who consistently leave hurtful comments is always an option too! There's no shame in protecting yourself from toxic energy by removing those who bring nothing but negativity into your space online.

At the end of the day though...

Remembering why we put ourselves out there Making content because we love doing so Not letting anyone else dictate our happiness

And hey... if all else fails,

Just hit 'em back harder... With kindness 😉
