I hate people. They're always staring, judging, whispering behind their hands. Just because I'm different doesn't give them the right to treat me like some kind of freak show. Today was supposed to be a good day out with Kai, just enjoying each other's company and trying to forget about all the crap in our lives for a little while.
But no, it couldn't be that simple. As we were walking down the street holding hands, minding our own business, a group of ignorant assholes started shouting homophobic slurs at us. My heart started racing as fear gripped me tight - not again.
Kai got angry - really angry. He tried to defend us against those loudmouthed bigots but they only laughed harder at him before turning their attention back on us.
Tears welled up in my eyes as I felt overwhelmed by everything happening around me - scared and upset by how cruel people can be towards those who are different from them.
I wish I could make it stop- make all this hatred disappear with just one word or gesture but instead... I remained silent.
