Adeline called me this morning with some exciting news - Sophie had her baby! It was a bit of a whirlwind, from what Adeline told me. Alex barely made it in time for the birth, and it seems like things were handled differently down there in Australia.
It's interesting to hear about their approach to childbirth and recovery. Adeline mentioned that some of the interventions we're used to weren't readily available for Sophie during labor. It's definitely a reminder that different countries have different medical practices.
When I talked to Alex, he said that Sophie is recovering at home but dealing with some unexpected challenges. Apparently, she doesn't have access to certain medications or treatments that would typically be offered here in the US. It's concerning knowing they don't have all the resources available as we do here.
On a brighter note, Adeline showed Mila a picture of our new niece - Summer. Mila is beyond excited at the thought of meeting her cousin soon! Hopefully, Sophie will make her way back stateside so we can all meet little Summer together.
Alex also mentioned that Summer seems to be struggling with colic, which could indicate an intolerance issue with lactose or certain proteins. He found it odd how they handle these situations in Australia by simply switching over to soy formula without any testing first – sounds quite unconventional if you ask me!
Despite everything they've been through as a couple recently – especially when Alex tried pressuring Sophie into terminating her pregnancy – I'm glad there seems to be hope now. Alex sounded more optimistic about their future together and even hinted at possibly having them return permanently or for an extended visit once things settle down.
Mum has already expressed excitement about meeting her newest grandchild and welcoming little Summer into our family fold...hopefully sooner rather than later!
It's heartwarming knowing another generation is joining us soon; let’s see what adventures await us next on this journey called life...
