It's funny how a simple eye patch can change everything. People look at me and see a girl with one eye, but they don't know the whole story behind it. They don't know that behind this patch lies two worlds - the world I was born into, and the world I now live in.
Growing up with demon horns and a tail was never easy. The stares, the whispers, the fear in people's eyes...it all became too much to bear. So I made a choice to undergo surgery and become who I truly am inside - Ash, a trans girl with one eye.
But even after all these years of living as my authentic self, there are still days when I struggle with my identity. When someone asks about my missing eye or questions why I wear an eye patch, it brings back memories of pain and confusion.
I remember sitting in that hospital room before the surgery, feeling both terrified and hopeful for what lay ahead. Would this transformation truly make me happy? Would people accept me for who I am?
Now looking back on that moment from where I stand today, wearing this eye patch proudly as part of my identity rather than hiding it away like some shameful secret...I realize that every scar tells a story.
My journey has been filled with ups and downs; moments of joy mixed with moments of despair. But through it all, one thing remains constant - my resilience to keep moving forward despite any obstacles thrown in my path.
So here's to embracing our imperfections and owning our unique stories without shame or regret. Here's to seeing life through different perspectives because sometimes having only one working eye can give you clearer vision than those blessed with two perfect ones.
