Hey everyone, Chiya here! Today was a busy day at Ama Usa An as we experimented with some new recipes in the kitchen. It's always exciting to try out new flavors and ingredients, and I love being able to share our creations with our customers.
We started off the day by brainstorming ideas for a special dessert that we could feature on our menu. After much discussion and taste testing, we decided to try making matcha macarons filled with red bean paste. Matcha has such a unique flavor that pairs perfectly with the sweet richness of red bean paste, so we were eager to see how it would turn out.
As soon as we had settled on our recipe, I got straight to work measuring out all of the ingredients while my mom prepared the filling. The scent of freshly ground matcha filled the air as I sifted together almond flour and powdered sugar for the macaron shells. Once everything was mixed together into a smooth batter, it was time to pipe them onto baking sheets in perfect little circles.
While waiting for the macarons to bake in the oven, I whipped up a batch of homemade red bean paste using adzuki beans cooked down with sugar until they were soft and sweet. The combination of earthy matcha and creamy red bean sounded like an indulgent treat that would delight anyone who tried it.
When the timer finally went off signaling that our macarons were ready, I couldn't wait to see how they turned out. As soon as they cooled enough to be handled without burning myself (which is always tricky), I carefully sandwiched them together with generous dollops of red bean paste between each pair.
The first bite transported me straight back home - or rather back through centuries-old Japanese traditions where matcha tea rituals have been treasured since ancient times - leaving behind only memories lingering like cherry blossoms falling softly from trees during springtime... oh sorry about getting carried away there!
