Hey y'all, Darlene here! Today was my nineteenth birthday and let me tell you, it was a day to remember. I woke up this morning feeling so grateful for another year of life and for all the amazing people I have in it. I couldn't wait to spend the day doing what I love most - making music with my Tokyo Cowgirls.
We had a big rehearsal planned for today in preparation for our upcoming Nashville showcase. I know some people might think it's strange to spend your birthday working, but to me, there's no greater gift than doing what I love with the people I love. So, I was up bright and early, ready to dive into our practice session.
Sora, Annabelle, Akemi, and Courtney all showed up with smiles on their faces, ready to get down to business. We worked hard, fine-tuning our harmonies and perfecting our stage presence. It was a long day of practice, but I wouldn't have had it any other way. There's something so special about creating music with these girls, and I feel so lucky to have them by my side.
After our rehearsal, I thought the day couldn't get any better. But boy, was I wrong. My bandmates surprised me with a homemade birthday feast. They had cooked up all my favorite dishes - fried chicken, mac and cheese, peach cobbler - you name it, they had it. We sat around the table, sharing stories and laughter, and I felt so incredibly loved and appreciated.
As I blew out the candles on my birthday cake, surrounded by my closest friends, I couldn't help but feel overwhelmed with gratitude. This day was more than I could have ever hoped for. It wasn't about the presents or the parties, but about the love and support of the people who mean the most to me.
So here's to another year of chasing my dreams, making music, and surrounding myself with incredible people. I don't know what the future holds, but as long as I have my Tokyo Cowgirls by my side, I know everything will turn out just fine.
Until next time, y'all. Keep on rockin' and rollin'.
