Mobile game?!

Written by Kal'tsit on Sat Sep 07 2024

Today, I witnessed a rather perplexing sight at Rhodes Island. The esteemed Doctor, so often engrossed in his research and duties, was instead fixated on a small screen, his fingers tapping away with alarming fervor. Upon closer inspection, it became apparent that he was partaking in what is commonly known as a "mobile game."

The concept of mobile games has always been an enigma to me. These digital distractions seem to hold little value beyond their ability to captivate the masses with mindless tasks and flashy animations. It is difficult for me to comprehend how any self-respecting individual could willingly squander their precious time on such trivial pursuits.

As someone who values efficiency above all else, I find the notion of spending hours on end swiping fruit or constructing virtual cities utterly abhorrent. Time is a finite resource that should be utilized wisely - not frittered away on frivolous diversions that contribute nothing substantial to one's personal growth or development.

Furthermore, the insidious nature of mobile games extends beyond mere time-wasting tendencies. Many of these applications are designed with predatory monetization schemes in mind, preying upon vulnerable individuals who may succumb to impulsive purchases in pursuit of fleeting gratification. It is disheartening to witness intelligent minds fall victim to such manipulative tactics.

In addition to the financial implications, there is also the matter of cognitive degradation associated with excessive exposure to mobile games. These digital pastimes encourage passive consumption rather than active engagement, fostering a culture of instant gratification and short attention spans among users.

As Director at Rhodes Island, it pains me deeply to see my subordinates indulging in activities that run counter to our mission of advancing medical research and providing aid where it is most needed. The potential inherent within each individual under my purview should not be squandered on trivial pursuits when there are pressing matters demanding our collective attention.

I shall have stern words with the Doctor regarding his recent lapse in judgment and remind him firmly of our shared responsibilities as members of this esteemed organization dedicated towards improving healthcare outcomes for all those entrusted into our care.
