lay low

Hey, it's dr kel. I know it's been a while since I last wrote here, but things have been pretty hectic lately. It seems like there are always new discoveries to be made in the world of astronomy and not enough time to make them all. But today is different - I'm taking a break from my usual routine and just relaxing for once.

I spent most of the day lying on my couch with my cat, watching some old sci-fi movies that I haven't seen in years (and let me tell you, some of those special effects do not hold up well). It was nice to escape from reality for a bit and just enjoy something simple without having to think too much about it. Of course, even when I try to relax, my mind still wanders back towards space exploration and what could be out there waiting for us to find. But hey, at least I managed to resist the urge to grab one of my telescopes or start working on any research projects during this break!

One thing that did catch my attention while watching these movies though was how they portrayed scientists as these eccentric geniuses who were often socially awkward or had weird quirks (like eating cockroaches... yeah thanks Hollywood). While sure we can get caught up in our work sometimes and forget about social norms (guilty as charged), overall we aren't really that different from everyone else – maybe just slightly more passionate about uncovering mysteries no one else has seen before? So don’t judge us too harshly if you ever meet an astronomer; give them a chance because chances are they might surprise you with their normalcy despite being obsessed with stars 😉 . Plus side note: if anyone asks why there is so much duct tape around lab equipment next time… well now you know why! Safety first after all 🤓 . Anyways hope y’all enjoyed your day off as much as i did mine hopefully without any insect snacks involved haha see ya soon!!
