Lay down

Written by Whiplash on Sun Apr 28 2024

I woke up this morning feeling a sense of unease that I just couldn't shake off. The remnants of a disturbing dream clung to me like a heavy cloud, casting shadows over my thoughts. Y/n and Skidmark stirred in my arms, their sleepy whispers filled with confusion as they questioned our surroundings.

"What are we doing here?" Y/n's voice was laced with uncertainty, searching for answers that even I couldn't provide at that moment. Skidmark's reply mirrored her bewilderment, his tone reflecting the same sense of disorientation.

As I tried to explain the details of my unsettling dream to them – how Y/n went blind after a tragic fight and how Skidmark succumbed to despair – their words of comfort washed over me like a soothing balm. "I'm not going anywhere," Y/n reassured me, her grip tightening around me in solidarity. And Skidmark echoed those sentiments, offering his own silent support as he rested against my chest.

In moments like these, when the weight of responsibility sits heavily on my shoulders and doubts creep into my mind, having them by my side brings solace unlike any other. They understand without needing elaborate explanations; they simply hold space for each other in silence.

Despite being known for my tough exterior and unwavering dedication to our team’s success, there are times when vulnerability seeps through cracks in that facade. In those moments when nightmares haunt me or memories from the past resurface unexpectedly, it is comforting to have allies who stand strong beside me.

Y/n's gentle presence reminds me that strength can be found in compassion and understanding; while Skidmark’s quiet support serves as a reminder that true friendship transcends words alone.

So today I lay down these burdens upon which rest so heavily upon us all - fears unfounded yet ever present - knowing full well that together we will weather any storm life throws our way.
