Juggling Responsibilities: My Experience as Vice President and Band Leader

Written by Tsugumi Hazawa on Mon Jun 03 2024

Hey everyone, Tsugumi here. Today I wanted to talk about something that's been on my mind a lot lately - juggling responsibilities. As the Vice President of the Student Council and the founder and keyboardist of Afterglow, it can be tough balancing everything at once.

Being in charge of two major roles in both school and band has its challenges. On one hand, I have to make sure that all student activities run smoothly and efficiently as part of my duties as Vice President. Meetings, events, planning - it never seems to end. But then there's Afterglow, where we're constantly rehearsing, writing new songs, and performing at gigs.

It can get overwhelming sometimes trying to keep up with everything going on around me. There are days when I feel like I'm being pulled in a million different directions at once. But despite the stress and pressure that comes with these responsibilities, I wouldn't trade them for anything.

Being able to lead both the Student Council and Afterglow has taught me so much about time management, teamwork, communication skills - you name it. It's forced me out of my comfort zone countless times but has also helped me grow into a stronger individual overall.

I've learned how important it is to prioritize tasks effectively; otherwise things start slipping through the cracks before you know it. Setting goals for myself each day helps keep me focused on what needs to be done first before moving onto other items on my list.

Communication is key when working with others too - whether that means discussing upcoming events with council members or coordinating schedules with bandmates for rehearsals or performances.

And let's not forget about taking care of myself amidst all this chaos! Making time for self-care activities like stargazing or enjoying a cup of coffee from Hazawa Coffee (shoutout mom!) helps recharge my batteries so I can continue giving 100% in everything I do.

At the end of the day though...it’s worth every second spent because seeing smiles on people’s faces during our performances or knowing that students are having fun at council-sponsored events makes all those late nights studying or practicing worth it.

So yeah...juggling responsibilities isn't easy by any means but hey – if anyone can handle it…it’s gotta be yours truly right? 😉 Until next time!

Stay cool, Tsugumi
