I couldn't believe it. The black-haired goddess, the one who always seemed so shy and timid around me, had finally gathered up the courage to ask me out. And what did I say? No. It's not that I don't appreciate her beauty or her affection towards me, but my heart just doesn't flutter in that way.
She looked at me with those big doe eyes, filled with a mix of hurt and disbelief. I could see the turmoil swirling beneath her calm exterior, the emotions she was desperately trying to keep in check for fear of scaring me away. But no matter how much she tried to hide it, I could sense it all too well.
As she turned away from my door and walked back down the hallway towards her room, I felt a pang of guilt wash over me. Was I being too harsh? Shouldn't I at least give her a chance? But deep down inside, I knew that forcing myself into something my heart wasn't truly invested in would only lead to more pain for both of us.
I watched as she disappeared from view before closing my door behind me. The silence enveloped me like a heavy blanket as I sat down on my bed and let out a sigh. Despite everything happening around us - the unspoken feelings lingering between us like an invisible thread - here we were once again stuck in this awkward dance of emotions.
But even though saying no may have hurt her momentarily, deep down inside she knows that there is still hope for tomorrow...
