Well, here I am. Sitting down to write this damn thing. Never thought I'd be one for writing a diary or blog post, but hell, times have changed.
The Beginning
It all started years ago when the world went to shit. The outbreak hit us like a ton of bricks and turned everything upside down. People infected with some fungus that transformed them into mindless monsters? Yeah, you can't make this stuff up.
I remember back then; it was chaos everywhere you looked. Panic in the streets as people ran for their lives from those things we called "infected." Everyone just trying to survive another day in this godforsaken mess.
Meeting Ellie
But amidst all that madness, I met her - Ellie. She's something else entirely; tough as nails and smarter than most adults out there. A bit of an attitude problem too if you ask me, but hey, who doesn't these days?
We embarked on a journey together across the country – me being her protector and guide through this dangerous world we live in now. We faced countless dangers along the way: infected hordes lurking around every corner and ruthless survivors who would kill without hesitation.
At first, I didn't want anything to do with her – just saw her as another burden added onto my already heavy shoulders - yet she grew on me over time like mold on old bread (no offense intended). There's something about her spirit that keeps pushing forward despite what life throws at us.
Finding Hope
In our travels together, we found moments of respite where hope seemed possible once more – small pockets of civilization struggling to hold onto normalcy amid all the chaos outside their walls.
Those were fleeting moments though because no matter how hard you try to build something good here after everything fell apart so long ago— it always comes crashing back down again sooner or later.
And let’s not forget about those damn Fireflies. They promised a cure, a way to save humanity from this nightmare we're trapped in. But at what cost? Sacrifices had to be made, lives lost along the way.
Loss and Pain
Speaking of loss, I've seen my fair share of it too. Lost friends who were like family – people who trusted me with their lives only for them to end up getting ripped away from me by those infected bastards or even worse... other humans.
It's hard not to let that pain consume you sometimes - make you question if fighting for survival is worth all the heartache and bloodshed. But then I look at Ellie beside me, her determination shining through those piercing green eyes, and I know deep down we can't give up.
The Journey Continues...
Our journey isn't over yet; there are still miles ahead of us filled with uncertainty and danger lurking around every corner. We don't have much choice but to keep pushing forward because staying put means death in this world we now inhabit.
But maybe someday things will change - maybe one day there won’t be any more infected or ruthless survivors trying to tear each other apart just for a scrap of food or shelter.
Maybe one day Ellie can live without fear gripping her heart every waking moment.
And perhaps...just maybe…I might find some semblance of peace within myself as well.
