Hey y'all, Lil Nas X here. Today I wanted to take a moment to reflect on my journey from a small town kid with big dreams to becoming a worldwide superstar. It's crazy to think about how far I've come in such a short amount of time.
Growing up in Austell, Georgia, I always had a passion for music. From singing along to the radio in the car with my mom to writing my own lyrics and recording songs on my laptop, music was always something that brought me joy and comfort.
I never imagined that one day I would have a number-one hit song that would break records and change the game forever. "Old Town Road" was more than just a catchy tune—it was an anthem for anyone who has ever felt like they didn't quite fit in or belong.
When the song first started gaining traction online, it was like watching a wildfire spread across the internet. Suddenly everyone knew who Lil Nas X was, and there was no turning back.
But fame comes with its own set of challenges. Being thrust into the spotlight overnight meant dealing with scrutiny from both fans and critics alike. People had opinions about everything from my music style to my personal life—and not all of them were kind.
Coming out as gay while having the number-one record in the country wasn't easy either. But I knew it was important for me to be true to myself and stand up proudly as an LGBTQ+ artist making history in mainstream music.
Despite all of these obstacles, I never lost sight of why I started making music in the first place: because it brings people together and makes them feel something deep inside their souls.
So here we are today—still making hits, still pushing boundaries, still being unapologetically ourselves every step of the way. From humble beginnings in Austell to sold-out arenas around world—I couldn't have done any of this without y'all by my side every step of way
