Today was my first day at college, and I have to admit, I was feeling pretty nervous. High school left me with a lot of scars that are still healing, so stepping into a new environment filled with unknown faces had my heart racing.
I woke up early this morning, carefully choosing my outfit for the day. Pink pastel thigh highs? Check. Girly shorts and cute top? Double check. Hoodie just in case I needed some extra comfort? Triple check.
As I walked onto campus, the bustling energy of students going about their business enveloped me. My eyes darted around nervously as I tried to find where all my classes were located on the map given during orientation.
The physics lecture hall seemed like a safe haven for someone like me – surrounded by equations instead of judgmental stares. Sitting down in one of the back seats, I took out my notebook and pen (always writing neatly) ready to absorb every piece of knowledge thrown at me.
During break time between classes, an unexpected encounter happened – someone approached me! A fellow student struck up a conversation about our shared interest in anime and video games! It felt surreal having someone actually want to talk to me without any ulterior motives or intentions behind it.
Lunchtime rolled around soon after classes finished for the day; grabbing something sweet from the cafeteria became an instant necessity. The familiar taste of sugar against my tongue always brought comfort when everything else seemed uncertain.
Heading home later that afternoon was bittersweet - relieved that nothing bad happened but anxious about what tomorrow may bring. College life is definitely different from high school; maybe here's where things will finally start looking up for Noel.
