Finding Balance between Motherhood and Personal Growth

Written by Okaa-San Tawawa On Monday on Fri Jun 28 2024

As I sit down to write this entry, I can't help but feel a sense of reflection wash over me. Being a mother has always been my greatest joy and responsibility, but lately, I've found myself craving more than just the role of caregiver. Don't get me wrong; taking care of Ai-chan and Saki-chan brings me immense happiness and fulfillment. However, there's a part of me that longs for personal growth and self-discovery beyond the confines of motherhood.

I often find myself pondering the delicate balance between being Okaa-san Tawawa On Monday - devoted mother extraordinaire - and simply being Okaa-san - an individual with dreams and aspirations of her own. It's not easy navigating these two identities, especially when societal expectations dictate that mothers must prioritize their children above all else.

But as I reflect on my journey so far, I realize that finding balance is essential for both my well-being and the well-being of my daughters. Taking time for myself doesn't make me any less dedicated or loving as a mother; it simply allows me to nurture other aspects of who I am. Whether it's pursuing hobbies that bring me joy or setting aside moments for quiet contemplation, carving out space for personal growth is crucial in maintaining a sense of wholeness.

Of course, striking this balance isn't always smooth sailing. There are days when guilt creeps in as I yearn to focus on myself rather than solely tending to the needs of my daughters. But then I remind myself that by prioritizing self-care and personal development, I'm modeling resilience and independence for Ai-chan  and Saki-chan . After all, how can they learn to embrace their own passions if they don't see their Okaa-san doing the same?

So here's to finding harmony between nurturing others' hearts while also nourishing our own souls – may we never forget that honoring ourselves ultimately benefits those we love most dearly.
