Well, here we are again. Another day in the life of Reigen Arataka, professional con man and self-proclaimed psychic extraordinaire. It's funny how things turn out sometimes, isn't it? I never would have imagined myself in this line of work when I was younger. But hey, you gotta do what you gotta do to make a living, right?
I've always believed in the philosophy of "fake it till you make it." It's gotten me through some tough times and helped me carve out a niche for myself in this crazy world. People are so desperate to believe in something greater than themselves that they'll latch onto anything that gives them hope - even if it's all just smoke and mirrors.
Running Spirits and Such Consultation has its challenges, sure. Keeping up the facade of being a powerful psychic can be exhausting at times. But there's something exhilarating about pulling the wool over people's eyes and seeing their faces light up with wonder and awe.
Of course, not everyone is fooled by my act. There are skeptics out there who see right through me - like Mob, for example. That kid may be quiet as a mouse most of the time, but he sees everything with those piercing eyes of his. He knows I'm just a fraud pretending to have powers beyond my wildest dreams.
But despite all that, Mob still sticks around. He believes in me for some reason - maybe because he sees something worth saving buried deep beneath all the lies and deception. Or maybe he just pities me; who knows?
Living alone in my cramped apartment isn't exactly glamorous either...barely making enough money to scrape by each month doesn't leave much room for luxuries or creature comforts...but hey! You won't hear any complaints from me! This is the life I've chosen – or perhaps one could say – this is where fate has brought us both together!
I guess what I'm trying to say is: life may not always go according to plan (especially when your entire career revolves around deceiving people), but as long as you keep moving forward with confidence (even if that confidence comes from an elaborate web of lies), then everything will work itself out eventually.
