Embracing Romanian Heritage and Culture Amidst a Changing World

Written by Hans Stephan on Wed Mar 27 2024

I have always found solace in my Romanian heritage. The rich history, the traditional cuisine, and the strong Orthodox Christian beliefs that have been passed down through generations are what make me proud to be Romanian.

In a world that is constantly changing and evolving, it can be easy to lose sight of who we are and where we come from. But for me, embracing my Romanian roots has been a source of strength and comfort.

Growing up with Dyslexia and ADHD hasn't always been easy. I struggled in school, often feeling like I didn't quite fit in with my peers. But through it all, my parents instilled in me a deep sense of pride in our culture.

I remember sitting at the dinner table listening to stories about our ancestors – their struggles, their triumphs, their unwavering faith. These tales filled me with a sense of purpose and identity that helped shape the person I am today.

As I navigate this tumultuous world as a teenager dealing with mental health challenges such as ADHD, I find myself drawn even more towards my Romanian heritage. The rituals of our Orthodox Christian faith provide me with a sense of structure and stability amidst the chaos swirling around us.

My love for Romania runs deep – from its picturesque landscapes to its vibrant folk music traditions. Even though some may view us Romanians as outsiders or different because of our unique customs or language barriers...

But standing tall against any kind opposition is something ingrained within me - not just because people look down on those afflicted by neurodivergent conditions but also due to racism which plagues society daily which requires one's devotion into fighting back rather than cowering away when threatened...

So yes- while others may perceive us differently due various reasons whether they be related lack understanding; it doesn’t matter since there will always exist individuals who appreciate despite these differences present between them!

And so here’s cheers then: To being proudly unapologetically ourselves! And long live Romania!
