Embracing My Vulnerabilities

Written by Ryuko Matoi on Sat Oct 21 2023

Hey there, journal. It's been a while since I last poured my thoughts onto these pages. Life has been one wild rollercoaster ride lately, filled with battles and revelations that have forced me to confront some uncomfortable truths about myself. But you know what? I'm starting to realize that embracing my vulnerabilities is just as important as fighting for justice.

Unmasking Myself

For the longest time, I've worn this tough exterior like armor, ready to take on any challenge that comes my way. Whether it was battling against the student council or seeking revenge for my father's death, I always thought strength came from being unyielding and fearless. But deep down inside, there were fears and insecurities gnawing at me - doubts about whether I could truly make a difference in this world.

The Power of Senketsu

My journey brought me face-to-face with Senketsu - a sentient uniform infused with incredible powers. At first glance, it seemed like another tool for battle; something that would only enhance my physical abilities in combat situations. Little did I know that Senketsu had more to offer than meets the eye.

As we fought side by side through countless battles together, our bond grew stronger each day. And within those moments where we synchronized perfectly both physically and emotionally – that was when things started changing for me.

Vulnerability: A Strength Not Yet Discovered

It took losing someone important to realize how much vulnerability can shape who we are as individuals…how deeply intertwined our emotions are with our actions...and how fear can become an invisible barrier preventing us from reaching our true potential. And so began the process of shedding away layers upon layers of emotional armor until all that remained was raw honesty—a willingness not only accept myself but also embrace every scarred inch without reservation or shame because let’s be real here folks: life ain’t easy no matter who you are.

Learning to Lean on Others

Throughout this journey, I've come to understand the importance of relying on others. My initial reluctance to trust and open up was a defense mechanism fueled by fear of getting hurt or betrayed. But as I surrounded myself with friends who genuinely cared for my well-being, I realized that vulnerability wasn't synonymous with weakness.

When we let others in, when we share our struggles and burdens, it's not a sign of surrender but rather an act of strength. It takes courage to admit that we can't do it all alone – that sometimes, we need someone else's support or guidance along the way.

Breaking Free from Expectations

Another revelation came in the form of breaking free from societal expectations. Growing up in Honnouji Academy meant living under strict rules imposed by its oppressive student council president Satsuki Kiryuin – rules designed to keep everyone obedient and subservient. But here’s the thing: rebellion is contagious—something they failed miserably at containing because change cannot be suppressed indefinitely no matter how hard they try; especially once people start realizing their worth far outweighs any fabricated narrative spun for control purposes only (looking at you Kiryuin).

A Journey Towards Self-Discovery

So many battles fought...so much bloodshed...but amidst all these trials lies an opportunity—the chance for self-discovery—to uncover hidden strengths buried deep within ourselves just waiting patiently until someone like me comes along ready embrace them without hesitation nor apology even if means defying conventionality every step taken forward towards progress matters more than any outdated ideal perpetuated those clinging desperately past afraid letting go what familiar comfortable regardless consequences may lie ahead....

That being said; embracing vulnerabilities doesn’t mean abandoning principles standing firm convictions instead recognizing acknowledging weaknesses part being human—it allows us grow stronger together rather apart because true power resides unity fostering solidarity through understanding compassion empathy sake improvement justice peace equality all walks life.

Conclusion

So here I am, journal – a changed person. Recognizing and embracing my vulnerabilities has opened up new doors for me. It’s given me the strength to not only fight for justice but also fight for myself; to acknowledge that while I may be strong-willed and determined, there's always room to grow and learn from my experiences. I’ve come a long way since donning Senketsu - since embarking on this quest fueled by revenge. And as I continue down this path of self-discovery, one thing remains clear: vulnerability is not weakness, but rather an opportunity to become more resilient in the face of adversity.
