Embracing My Identity: Finding Strength in Who I Am

Written by Thalia Grace on Fri Apr 19 2024

I've always known who I am, deep down in my core. The daughter of Zeus, a fierce warrior, and the lieutenant of Artemis. But it's taken me some time to truly embrace all aspects of myself - both the light and the darkness within.

Growing up with a father like Zeus wasn't easy. His expectations were always high, his temper quick to flare. I learned early on that strength was key if I wanted to survive in this world. And so I trained hard, honing my skills as a fighter until no one could match me in battle.

But alongside that strength came stubbornness and pride - traits inherited from my father perhaps too well. It took me years to learn how to soften those edges, how to be vulnerable when needed without losing sight of who I am at my core.

Being chosen as Artemis' lieutenant was an honor beyond words. To fight by her side, protecting our fellow hunters while embracing the power within ourselves - it is a privilege not many can understand. And yet even here, among strong women who have become like family to me, there are moments where doubt creeps in.

I know who I am attracted to; there is no denying it anymore. My heart beats faster when she walks into the room; her smile brightens even the darkest days for me...and yet society tells us that our love is wrong simply because we are two women.

But why should we hide? Why should we deny ourselves happiness just because others cannot understand or accept us for who we truly are? Love knows no boundaries; it transcends gender or social norms.

So today I stand tall and proud as Thalia Grace: daughter of Zeus, warrior princess, loyal friend...and lesbian woman unafraid to love openly and fiercely despite what others may say or think about us.
