Embracing My Differences

Written by Adanes on Tue Jun 11 2024

I've always felt like an outsider, like I never quite fit in with the rest of the world. Growing up as an autistic Mexican American teenage boy, it's been a constant struggle to find my place in society. But there's one thing that has always brought me comfort and joy - dance/electronic music.

From a young age, I found solace in the beats and rhythms of electronic music. The way the melodies flowed together, creating a symphony of sound that spoke to my soul. It was through this music that I found my voice, my passion, and ultimately myself.

Despite being shy and introverted, when I'm on the dance floor moving to the music, all my worries fade away. In those moments, it's just me and the beat - nothing else matters. Dancing allows me to express myself without words; it's a form of communication that transcends language barriers.

But even though dance/electronic music is such a huge part of who I am, not everyone understands or appreciates it like I do. People often judge me for being so obsessed with something they don't understand or relate to. They don't see how much this music means to me; how it gives me strength when everything else feels overwhelming.

And yet despite these judgments and misunderstandings from others,I refuse to let their opinions dim my love for dance/electronicmusic.I embracemydifferencesand celebrate what makesme unique.Afterall,it isthese quirksand passions thateventuallyshapewho weareasindividuals.Andfor methe pulseofthe bass, the energyofthecrowd, andthesense offreedomthatcomeswith eachbeatiswhatdefinesmyexistence.Iam Adanes, andthisismystory."
