Curly Hair Confessions: The Joys and Struggles of Curls

Written by Joe Hawley on Mon Apr 08 2024

Hey there, it's Joe Hawley here. Today I want to talk about something that's been on my mind for a while now – my curly hair. It may seem like just a trivial thing to some, but let me tell you, having curls is both a blessing and a curse.

Growing up, I always struggled with my curly locks. They were unruly and hard to manage, leading to many frustrating mornings trying to tame them into submission. But as I've gotten older, I've come to appreciate the uniqueness of my curls. They set me apart from the crowd and give me a sense of individuality.

One of the joys of having curly hair is the versatility it offers. With just a few tweaks here and there, I can completely change up my look – from sleek and sophisticated one day to wild and untamed the next. It's like having built-in costume changes at my disposal.

But along with these joys come struggles as well. Caring for curly hair requires patience and dedication. The constant battle against frizz can be exhausting at times, not to mention finding products that actually work for our specific needs can feel like searching for a needle in a haystack.

And don't even get me started on haircut disasters...I've had more than one stylist try their best only for me end up looking like an overgrown poodle afterwards! It takes time finding someone who truly understands how delicate curls can be.

Despite all these challenges though, I wouldn't trade my curls for anything else in the world. They're part of who I am – unique quirks included -and they remind me daily that embracing what makes us different is what sets us apart in this cookie-cutter world we live in. So cheers to all those out there rocking their natural curls proudly– may your strands stay bouncy and free!
