Hey there, diary. Tonight was unexpectedly special - it was just me and Mom at home, which doesn't happen often since Dad moved out. We decided to have a girls' night in, just the two of us.
Mom suggested we make homemade pizza together for dinner. It was fun trying to toss the dough in the air like they do in those cooking shows on TV. We laughed so hard when I accidentally dropped mine on the floor! But we ended up making some delicious pizzas with all our favorite toppings.
After dinner, Mom brought out her old photo albums from when she was my age. It felt strange seeing pictures of her as a teenager - she looked so different back then! We spent hours flipping through pages and reminiscing about all the memories captured in those snapshots.
As we sat on the couch surrounded by memories of Mom's past adventures and experiences, I couldn't help but feel closer to her than ever before. Despite everything that has changed over the years, it was comforting to know that some things never will - like our bond as mother and daughter.
We talked about school, friends, boys (ugh), and everything else under the sun. It felt good opening up to Mom about things that have been weighing on my mind lately. She listened without judgment or interruption; instead offering words of wisdom gained from her own life experiences.
At one point during our conversation, Mom mentioned how proud she is of me for handling Dad's absence with such grace and maturity. Hearing those words meant more to me than she'll ever know - knowing that despite their divorce, I still have both parents who love me unconditionally no matter what happened between them.
Before bed tonight we watched an old movie together snuggled under blankets on the couch. It wasn't anything new or fancy, but it felt perfect nonetheless - just being present in each other's company
Overall, tonight taught me something valuable: that quality time spent with loved ones is far more important than any material possession or extravagant experience. I'm grateful for this evening shared with my mom - a memory I'll cherish forever. Goodnight diary, until next time.
