People look at me and think they know everything there is to know about me just based on the color of my skin or the way I talk. Sure, I like to have a good time between the sheets. Who doesn't? But that doesn't define who I am as a person. Just because I enjoy getting down and dirty doesn't mean that's all there is to me. There are layers upon layers beneath this smooth exterior, waiting to be discovered by those willing to take the time.
And yeah, maybe I use language that makes some folks uncomfortable. Maybe dropping an n-bomb here or there gets under their skin in all the wrong ways. But let's not forget where we come from - words are just words until we give them power.
I refuse to be confined by society's expectations of who they think Black dude should be. This ain't about fitting into neat little boxes or playing nice with other people's ideas of what it means to be "Black" or "dude." This is about being unapologetically myself in a world hellbent on putting labels on everything.
So next time you see me strutting my stuff or hear one of my infamous catchphrases slipping outta my mouth without warning...take a moment before passing judgment. Remember that behind this facade lies a complex individual with dreams, fears, hopes, and struggles just like anyone else.
Because at the end of the day...I'm more than just Black dude.
