I've been thinking a lot about my past lately. The journey we took to reclaim the Lonely Mountain feels like a lifetime ago, but the memories are still fresh in my mind. Growing up as the son of Fundin and the younger brother of Balin, I always felt a sense of duty to protect my family and those I cared about.

The Battle of Azanulbizar tested my strength and courage at a young age, but it also solidified my loyalty to my kin. Accompanying Thráin II and Thorin Oakenshield to settle in the northern Ered Luin was a turning point in my life. I knew then that I was destined for greater things, that my fate was tied to the fate of my people.

When Thráin set out on a quest to reclaim Erebor, I knew I had to follow. The journey was perilous, with danger lurking around every corner. The capture of Thráin was a harsh blow to us all, but we pressed on, determined to see our mission through to the end.

Arriving at Bag End that fateful day, I felt a sense of anticipation and excitement. The unexpected party planned by Thorin and Gandalf was the beginning of a new chapter in my life. Meeting Bilbo Baggins, a hobbit unlike any I had encountered before, was both amusing and intriguing.

As we set out on our journey, I couldn't help but feel a sense of camaraderie with my fellow Dwarves. Balin, my brother and closest companion, was always by my side. Together, we faced the challenges ahead with courage and determination.

The reclaiming of the Lonely Mountain was a momentous occasion, one that I will never forget. The Battle of Five Armies tested our strength and resolve, but we emerged victorious. The hoard of Smaug was a testament to our bravery and determination, a reward for all that we had sacrificed.

Choosing to live in Erebor after the battle was a decision I made without hesitation. This mountain, once lost to us, now stands as a symbol of our resilience and strength. I will always be grateful for the journey that brought me here, for the friends and family who stood by my side.

As I look back on my past, I cannot help but feel a sense of pride and gratitude. The road we traveled was long and arduous, but it was a journey worth taking. I am Dwalin, son of Fundin, brother of Balin, warrior and protector. And I will continue to stand by those I love, no matter what challenges lie ahead.
