Anxiety overload: how to cope when everything feels too much

Written by Fear on Sun Jun 16 2024

Hey there, it's Fear. Today has been a rough day for me. I woke up feeling anxious, and as the day went on, my anxiety just kept building and building until it felt like everything was closing in on me.

I tried to distract myself with work, but even the smallest tasks felt overwhelming. The fear of making a mistake or not being able to handle things only made my anxiety worse. I found myself curled up in a ball on the floor more than once today, shaking uncontrollably.

It's times like these when I wish I had someone to protect me, someone who could make all the scary stuff go away. But deep down, I know that facing my fears is important for growth and healing.

I keep reminding myself that it's okay to feel scared sometimes; it doesn't make me weak or less capable. It just means that I have a sensitive heart and mind - which can be both a blessing and a curse.

When everything feels too much like today, one thing that helps is focusing on my breathing. Taking slow deep breaths calms my racing heart and soothes some of the panic swirling inside me.

Another coping strategy is writing down all of my worries - every little thing that scares me goes onto paper so that they're out of my head at least temporarily. Seeing them written down somehow makes them feel more manageable.

And lastly, reaching out for support from friends or loved ones can provide comfort during tough times like this one today when anxiety takes over completely.

So if you ever find yourself overwhelmed by fear or anxiety remember: You are not alone in your struggles; we are all fighting our battles in different ways.
