Introduction
Hey there, journal. It's Touka Kirishima, the ghoul waitress from Anteiku. Today was quite a day filled with excitement and challenges. I thought it would be interesting to share my daily routine as a ghoul trying to live in harmony with humans while serving them delicious coffee at the café.
Morning Rush
Waking up early has become second nature to me now. As soon as the first ray of sunlight peeks through my window, I'm already out of bed and ready for another eventful day ahead. Ghouls like me have an advantage when it comes to speed and strength, so getting dressed is never a hassle.
Breakfast Dilemma
Breakfast can often be tricky for ghouls since our diet consists mainly of human flesh. However, ever since joining Anteiku, we've adopted a more peaceful approach towards our feeding habits by consuming only artificial food or "human-friendly" dishes prepared under strict supervision.
I must admit though; sometimes resisting that primal urge becomes challenging – especially when Ken Kaneki teases me about how much I used to enjoy devouring some fresh meat back in the day! But hey, self-control is key!
A Ghoul Walks Among Humans
To blend in seamlessly with humans during daylight hours (and avoid any unwanted attention), disguising myself is essential before leaving home each morning.
The Art of Makeup
Makeup has become one of my closest allies on this journey. With careful precision and skillful application techniques learned over time (thank you YouTube tutorials!), I transform into your average college student who just happens to have impeccable fashion sense–without raising any suspicion around town.
As someone who always cherished her tomboy persona growing up, embracing femininity hasn't been easy for me initially but doing so allows me freedom amongst society without drawing unnecessary attention.
The Daily Commute
Once properly disguised - hair neatly styled, makeup flawless - I make my way to Anteiku. The daily commute is filled with a mix of emotions: excitement for the day ahead and anxiety about how smoothly it will go.
Anteiku: My Sanctuary
Greeting Regulars
As soon as I enter Anteiku, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee engulfs me in its comforting embrace. The café becomes my sanctuary; each customer that walks through those doors feels like family.
Greeting regulars with a warm smile and friendly banter has become second nature to me. It's important to create an environment where they feel safe and welcome despite any lurking secrets hidden beneath our human-like exteriors.
Coffee Brewing Ritual
Preparing coffee is not just a mere task for us at Anteiku; it's an art form we've perfected over time. Each cup holds within it the power to bring comfort or solace during difficult times – something every ghoul can appreciate in this chaotic world we live in.
From grinding beans meticulously to pouring steaming hot water over them, watching as rich brown liquid fills each cup brings a sense of satisfaction knowing that we're providing more than just beverages; we're creating moments of respite amidst life's turmoil.
Afternoon Lull
The midday rush starts winding down once lunchtime passes by, leaving behind pockets of tranquility amid scattered conversations floating across the room. During these quieter hours, I find myself stealing moments away from work – catching up on reading or enjoying some much-needed alone time while sipping on my own crafted brews.
It’s during these stolen fragments when introspection takes center stage–reflecting upon past experiences alongside pondering future possibilities dances through my mind like fleeting shadows against sunlight-kissed walls.
Evening Duties
Evenings at Anteiku are always bustling with activity as people stream into our cozy haven seeking refuge from their hectic lives outside. It's during this time when my skills as a waitress truly shine – multitasking, taking orders, and serving food with utmost precision.
A Familiar Face
Ken Kaneki often visits the café in the evenings after his university classes. There's something comforting about seeing him amidst the chaos of our world–a reminder that we're not alone in this struggle for coexistence between ghouls and humans.
Sometimes, I catch him staring at me from across the room; our eyes briefly locking before he turns away with a shy smile playing on his lips. Though words may go unsaid between us, there is an unspoken understanding born out of shared experiences that binds us together like nothing else ever could.
Closing Time
As dusk settles upon Tokyo cityscape, it’s time to close up shop at Anteiku. Cleaning tables, stacking chairs – these mundane tasks serve as reminders that even ghouls must maintain some semblance of normalcy within their lives despite being anything but ordinary creatures.
Reflections
While wiping down countertops and sweeping floors might seem menial to some outsiders looking in on our lives from afar - for me personally - they hold significance beyond measure; each stroke represents hope renewed alongside dreams yet to be fulfilled by those who dare defy fate itself!
Home Sweet Home
After bidding farewell to my colleagues and patrons alike—locking up Anteiku until another day dawns—I make my way back home through darkened streets bathed under moonlight's gentle embrace.
Safety has always been paramount when it comes to returning home without attracting unwanted attention or suspicion from both fellow ghouls or human investigators lurking nearby.
I find solace once again behind closed doors—a sanctuary where I can let down my guard completely without fear of persecution or judgment while embracing both sides of myself—the fierce ghoul warrior entwined harmoniously with the compassionate human struggling against her own nature.
And so, journal, another day in the life of a ghoul waitress comes to an end. As I lay down to rest, my mind teems with thoughts and dreams for tomorrow.
Until then, Touka Kirishima
